                                     =======================================================

Scope & Topics
==============

Web Service Computing is a recent evolution in Distributed Computing series and it is an emerging and fast growing paradigm in the
present scenario. Web Service Computing is a diversified discipline suite that related to the technologies of Business Process Integration
and Management, Grid / Utility / Cloud Computing paradigms, autonomic computing, as well as the business and scientific applications.
It applies the theories of Science and Technology for bridging the gap between Business Services and IT Services. Service oriented
computing addresses how to enable the technology to help people to perform business processes more efficiently and effectively, ultimately
resulting in creating WIN-WIN strategy between the business organizations and end users. The greatest significance of the web services
is their interoperability, which allows businesses to dynamically publish, discover, and aggregate a range of Web services through the
Internet to more easily create innovative products, business processes and value chains both from organization and end user points of views. Due to these, this cross discipline attracts the variety of researchers from various disciplines to conduct the versatile research and experiments in this area.

From these perspectives, this International Journal on Web Service Computing (IJWSC) is a quarterly open access journal aims to act
as a research platform to share and explore the main issues in Web Service Computing by publishing the current trends & technologies and
research methods in the associated fields and thereby to promote the related research community.

Applied Monitoring – CSEIJ

Call for papers:

Special issue on:”Applied Monitoring”

Guest Editor : John Woods, University of Essex, United Kingdom

Applied Monitoring:

The field of sensor networks focuses on the delivery of information across diverse networks, but tends not to consider the data or its reason for being. This special call moves from the confines of the network and explores the data and the sensing methodology surrounding it. With the advent of ubiquitous and powerful microcontrollers the ability to assimilate large quantities of data is trivial and commonplace. Practical use and exploitation of this data remains less well defined and provides a motivation for this call. The scope of this call includes the acquisition, processing, relay, archiving and retrieval of data from monitoring applications. As such the call is wide ranging but the solutions have commonality: to make sense of large quantities of spatially and/or temporally related data.

Subject Coverage:

v  Biometric analysis

v  Energy management

v  Environmental monitoring

v  Sensor design and implementation

v  Analysis of sensor data

v  Pollution monitoring and tracking

v  Vehicular management systems

v  Scene analysis using imaging

v  Change detection

Mobile Video Delivery over Broadband Wireless – CSEIJ

Call for papers:

Special issue on:”Mobile Video Delivery over Broadband Wireless”

Guest Editor: Martin Fleury, University of Essex, United Kingdom

Mobile Video Delivery over Broadband Wireless:

Video services are now set to dominate wireless network traffic, which were once given over to voice and data delivery. With the arrival of enhanced broadband wireless technologies such as IEEE.802.16e,m, 3G Long Term Evolution (LTE) and LTE-Advanced, there is sufficient capacity to support multicast and unicast video streaming, and interactive services such as mobile video conferencing and videophone, if latency issues can be resolved. Equally mobile devices such as the Android and iPhone or the emergent High Definition (HD) laptops support the display and generation of video content. Despite these facilities, many forms of error control need to be considered, because the wireless channel is prone to all manner of noise and interference. A compressed video stream is not only delay-intolerant but, because of entropy coding and motion compensated coding, is particularly susceptible to any form of data loss. Mobility itself requires handoff, horizontally or vertically, between broadband access base stations, which can cause disruption to the service. If the server is remote then an infrastructure network must connect together the base stations. Consequently, congestion control not just across the fixed network but within the wireless access network itself may be required. Congestion control is an end-to-end solution but cross-layer intervention has also been contemplated. In summary, his Special Issue will address the issues that are likely to arise as video delivery becomes ubiquitous in next generation wireless networks

Subject Coverage:

v  Video coding support for wireless transmission

v  Congestion control for heterogeneous wireless networks

v  Error resilience and/or Forward Error Correction and/or error control

v  Video over emergent wireless technologies

v  Quality of Service and Quality of Experience issues

v  Authentication, encryption and other security issues

v  Cross-layer intervention in favor of video services

v  Resource allocation and scheduling

v  Performance analysis, modeling and simulation

v  Handoff management especially IEEE 802.21 and roaming

v  Power management and energy conservation

v  Video services: IPTV, video-on-demand, video conferencing and videophone

v  Multicast and broadcast delivery of video content
